Futura is a design studio based in Rosebank, Johannesburg. We work predominantly in design-based advertising and communication design. We have a strong focus on branding, campaign design, art direction and conceptual design. We are medium agnostic and work across experiential, print, broadcast, digital and architectural graphic design.

-We are looking for someone with a degree in design and a minimum of 4 years experience in the design industry that loves learning and influencing their own development. The role will require a combination of strong conceptual skills and detailed design execution working with a variety of industries and mediums. A very good understanding of the Adobe design suite is imperative along with a keen sense of current global design styles and discourse. Practical print knowledge or editing skills is not a necessity, but beneficial.
-Conceptual Design
We work in an agile process that starts with concept design. This conceptual design process is important to help inform our work and help us test our solutions. Concept design work can be done in a variety of mediums or software programs and can take weeks or hours depending on the project, but it is always the most important step in anything we do as a studio. We are looking for designers with strong conceptual abilities and the skill to execute on them.
Art Direction and Campaign Design
The visual direction of any project is guided by our conceptual design phase. The visual direction is considered by everyone in the project team. Our style of art direction focuses on more than just advertising and includes space, packaging and experiences. To us art direction is as much about aesthetics and emotion as it is about the clarity of the intended message.
Branding and Space design
This is a large part of what we do. From logo’s to fully developed brand experiences. Our design solutions does not follow a particular style but is guided by a strong understanding of the intended user and is always rooted in the timeless principles fo graphic design. Typography is a cornerstone of our design ethos and we expect candidates to show a very good understanding and appreciation of the power of typography within communication design.
Design and conceptualisation of:
Posters, Spaces, Packaging, Campaigns, Social Content, Logos and brand marks, Brand guidelines, Interfaces, User journeys, Apparel, Layouts, Storyboards, Mood Boards, Presentation templates, Pitch documents, signage and merchandise.
-Clients include Nike, Southern Contemporary Art Collection, Sportscene, Kaiser Chiefs, Johannesburg Contemporary Art Foundation, Domino’s Pizza, Starbucks, Standard Bank, Praekelt Foundation and Rex Innovation.
